Egyptian blogger stays in jail
p2pnet.net news:- Abdelkareem Nabil Soliman, 22, the Egyptian blogger who allegedly insulted Islam and president Hosni Mubarak, will stay in jail for four years, an Egyptian court has ruled.
He was sentence to three years for contempting religion, and one year for defaming the president, says a protest site in his name site, going on:
“The Alexandria Appeal Court has upheld the four-year prison sentence against Kareem Amer. Furthermore, the judge approved a civil claim filed by the eleven lawyers who want to fine Kareem for ‘insulting Islam’. Kareem’s lawyers will apply for the Court of Cassation (third degree).”
Seen in in a YouTube clip (above) snagged while he was on his way to trial, he posted as Kareem Amer and, “often criticized Mubarak’s regime on the blog,” said Associated Press, and, “In one post, he said Al-Azhar University ’stuffs its students’ brains and turns them into human beasts … teaching them that there is not place for differences in this life.”
“He was a vocal critic of conservative Muslims and in other posts described Mubarak’s regime as a ’symbol of dictatorship’.”

Tired of being treated like a criminal? They depend on you, not the other way around. Don’t buy their ‘product’. Do bug your local politicians. Use emails, snail-mail, phone calls, faxes, IM, stop them in the street, blog. And if you’re into organizing, organize petitions, organize demonstrations and then turn up on your local political rep’s doorstep, making sure you’ve contacted your local tv/radio station/newspaper in advance. Don’t just complain. Do something!

I’m sorry, i find it hard to believe that it’s actually possible to defame a politician. The way they behave i honestly find it hard to think of anything i could say that would make people think any less of them.
