Led by honourary co-chairs industry minister Maxime Bernier and minister of Canadian heritage and status of women Bev Oda, it opens with a description of the rapid pace of technological change by Dr Ian Kerr, followed by a discussion of emerging technologies and their social implications.
Kerr’s talk will be followed by a moderated panel and a question-and-answer period including him, Jennifer Corriero and Craig Kielburger, and moderated by Evan Solomon.
The discussion, in Tabaret Hall, Room 112, 550 Cumberland Street, Ottawa, at 6:00 pm EST, will be broadcast live at www.media.uOttawa.ca/telus.html.
Kerr is the Canada Research Chair in Ethics, Law and Technology at the University of Ottawa.
Kielburger is a child rights advocate and leadership specialist and the founder of Free The Children, the world’s largest network of children helping children through education, and the co-founder of Leaders Today.
Corriero’s focus has been on helping youth around the world to realize the potential of technology; and working with companies to show them what they need to do to connect with young people. At age 19, she was a senior consultant to Microsoft, and has also done consulting work with Hewlett-Packard, Nike, and McDonald’s.
Solomon is a CBC TV broadcaster, journalist and author.

Tired of being treated like a criminal? They depend on you, not the other way around. Don’t buy their ‘product’. Do bug your local politicians. Use emails, snail-mail, phone calls, faxes, IM, stop them in the street, blog. And if you’re into organizing, organize petitions, organize demonstrations and then turn up on your local political rep’s doorstep, making sure you’ve contacted your local tv/radio station/newspaper in advance. Don’t just complain. Do something!
