Netsky.Q on the prowl
p2pnet.net News:- eDonkey was online at 11:15 Pacific and Kazaa is still there (Ah well …)
But that may not last because both are taking shots from Netsky-Q which is slated to maintain six days of DDoS attacks on both sites, as well as on www.cracks.st (up), www.cracks.am (down) and www.emule-project.net (down).
F-secure’s Mikko Hypponen said he expected file-sharing sites targetted to fair badly because they’re “relatively small companies that will not have the necessary infrastructure to survive a large DDoS attack”.
And on 14 April, Netsky.T will launch a new DDoS attack scheduled to last for 10 days.
“NetSky.T worm was discovered on April 6th, 2004,” says F-Secure.
“This variant is very close to the Netsky.S variant. Like the .S variant, it has a limited set of features. The worm spreads in e-mails, but does not spread to local network and P2P and does not uninstall Bagle worm. The worm has a backdoor that listens on port 6789.”
