Jamendo hits the million mark
p2pnet.net news:- France’s Jamendo, the free music community, says it’s reached a milestone: it’s distributed more than 1,000,000 albums on BitTorrent.
“Like some artists?” – it asks. Then, “Pay them directly or just spread the word about them.”
And it’s all down to Creative Commons licensing.
What’s the most downloaded album to date?
Silence, L’autre endroit, released a year ago on Jamendo under the free art licence and so far downloaded more than 11,600 times.
Currently, more than 2,800 albums are available.
Or looked at another way, it’s 2,000 hours of DRM-free music where the artist, not the Big 4 cartel, benefits.

Use emails, snail-mail, phone calls, faxes, IM, stop them in the street, blog. And if you’re into organizing, organize petitions, organize demonstrations and then turn up on your local political rep’s doorstep, making sure you’ve contacted your local tv/radio station/newspaper in advance.
