ICANN says No to .xxx
p2pnet.net news:- “More than 830 people from 81 countries gathered in Lisbon, Portugal for ICANN’s 28th Public Meeting,” posts the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers.
And fifth on its list of topics dealt with comes, “Rejection of the .XXX Sponsored Top Level Domain application.”
Government advisers, “deliberated behind closed doors Wednesday but issued no public statement on a plan to give the online back alleys their own home through a voluntary ‘.xxx’ Internet address,” said Associated Press yesterday.
And, “Adult content would be easier to regulate if it had its own “cordoned section,” said IDG News, quoting supporters.
But, the story goes on, “critics including religious leaders say the move could make adult content too easy to find, while others complain that increased filtering could harm the sites’ right to freedom of speech.”
And .xxx has been X-ed again.
