GTA IV trailer online

p2pnet.net news:- “Outraged” New York political leaders say rampant brutality in the latest version of Grand Theft Auto IV, “has little in common with reality,” according to the New York Daily News.

“Setting Grand Theft Auto in the safest big city in America would be like setting Halo in Disneyland,” it has City Councilman Peter Vallone, chairman of the Council’s Public Safety Committee, declaring.

Trailers for the new Grand Theft Auto show a mythical city with well-known landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge and the Cyclone in Coney Island, and a character voiceover warns, “Life is complicated. I killed people, smuggled people, sold people. Perhaps here, things will be different.”

The GTA IV trailer, “doesn’t offer a lot of detail but does give us a taste of the game,” says Gameshout. “The story is set in a world that appears to be closely modeled after New York City, and again allows players to play as the anti-hero.”

But, “It’s despicable to glamorize violence in games like these, regardless of how far-fetched the setting may be,” the New York Daily News has NY police commissioner Raymond Kelly raging.

“In previous incarnations, players advanced through the game by killing cops, selling pornography to children and killing prostitutes,” says the story. “Details of the latest version have not been released.”

Meanwhile, Wired has a long and detailed feature slated for May.

Says the teaser, “Boorish behavior, backdated stock options and a hidden sex scene - how Grand Theft Auto hit the skids.”

Tired of being treated like a criminal? They depend on you, not the other way around. Don’t buy their ‘product’. Do bug your local politicians. Use emails, snail-mail, phone calls, faxes, IM, stop them in the street, blog. And if you’re into organizing, organize petitions, organize demonstrations and then turn up on your local political rep’s doorstep, making sure you’ve contacted your local tv/radio station/newspaper in advance. Don’t just complain. Do something!

Whine whine whine, cry cry cry. Politicians need to find something better to do than complain about video games.

    Darn right.

I saw no violence in this trailer at all. Politicians and protesters were freaking out about that game Bully before it came out saying it was a ‘Columbine simulator’ and everyone found out afterwards that it was nothing like that at all. Another thing that irks me is that they say “players advanced through the game by killing cops, selling pornography to children and killing prostitutes,” when I never experienced that when I played Gran Theft Auto. It isn’t as if I finished any GTA game, and I don’t think I’m alone in not finishing every game I buy. I just didn’t do any of that stuff the way I played the game, but I bet if I was someone else, those things could happen when I played the game. I know that I never killed a cop when I played the Grand Theft Auto games.

“SAFEST CITY IN AMERICA”??? Yeah, right! They had two planes crash into and destroy the twin towers on Sept.11,2001 and I really doubt that it is that much safer since then!

As far as getting worked up about a game set in NYC? I would think they had better things to do….like securing the ports, increasing security at major hubs, help the economy…etc.

But I guess the folks in charge of NYC have nothing better to do than sit around and worry about a stupid game! What a waste!
