Dutch site un-stomped
p2pnet.net news:- And finally —–
—– Yesterday we posted a story on the sad tale of Electronic Music World’s Stefan Koopmanschap.
“True,” we said, “But what prompted Koopmanschap to make the statement? Someone with Big Feet in the world of Big Music appears has been successful in stomping a small Dutch site.”
Today, we had an email from Koopmanschap which says, “Thanks for giving this some attention. I think my statement posted earlier today will clear up some of the questions,” to wit:
APRIL FOOLS!
Of course this site would not be blocked to people outside the USA. Thatââ¬â¢s crazy! I myself am not in the USA. Granted, the site is hosted in the USA, but that’s just it. I would not dare block this site just like that.
There are no lawyers trying to bother me, the big labels have not had any trouble with me. Those of you who believed the story was simply fooled.
The trouble is, this could so easily have been true, unlike our own April 1 farce post ……..

Tired of being treated like a criminal? They depend on you, not the other way around. Don’t buy their ‘product’. Do bug your local politicians. Use emails, snail-mail, phone calls, faxes, IM, stop them in the street, blog. And if you’re into organizing, organize petitions, organize demonstrations and then turn up on your local political rep’s doorstep, making sure you’ve contacted your local tv/radio station/newspaper in advance. Don’t just complain. Do something!

Heh, even though it is not something I’d expect to happen to a simple site like my own, yes, I guess it could be true. Of course, this was the power behind my whole joke. Because it was so unthinkable and the US music industry is known for their unthinkable actions, it could be true, which prompted some people to fall for the joke
Cheers

I was fooled, and so were others, including a number of people from within the industry.
