Nettwerk Music, EA, form Artwerk
p2pnet.net news:- Canada’s Nettwerk Music Group and Electronic Arts have teamed up under a new full-service music company called Artwerk.
Last year Nettwerk walked away from the RIAA in protest when 15-year-old Elisa Greubel contacted MC Lars, a Nettwerk client, to say she identified with ‘Download This Song,’ a track from MC Lars’ then latest release.
Her father was being accused by Warner Music, EMI, Vivendi Universal and Sony BMG’s RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for allegedly illegally selling copyurighted music online.
Nettwerk is also footing the bill for family’s legal expenses.
Now, Artwerk puts together Nettwerk’s management, publishing and digital delivery companies together with EA’s global marketing power.
“It’s a great opportunity to market and promote great music to the millions of gamers around the world,” Nettwerk ceo Terry McBride told p2pnet.
“It’s a natural step in monetizing copyrights”
The Artwerk label will be based in Los Angeles and will, “sign and develop both new and established artists for publishing, master recording and sync deals, as well as digital and physical distribution,” say the companies.
Artwerk has signed producer artist Junkie XL, “whose tracks recently appeared in the top-selling games, Madden NFL 07 and Need for Speed Carbon,” says Nettwerk, adding:
“The label is currently in negotiations with several other cutting-edge acts.”
EA and Nettwerk first got together in 2005 to offer music various game clips as ringtones, mastertones and mp3 downloads.

I wonder if this means they’ll be able to persuade EA to leave the ESA.
