Moviemaker Bob Clark killed
p2pnet.net news:- “Sometimes, at the height of our revelries, when our joy is at it’s zenith, when all is most right with the world, the most unthinkable disasters decend upon us.”
That’s a line from Bob Clark’s The Christmas Story, says BlogTO, going on, “Canada’s most beloved expat filmmaker Bob Clark and his 22 year old son were killed in a tragic car accident last night.”
Born in American, Clark’s 1974 cult horror classic Black Christmas is often cited, alongside John Carpenter’s Halloween, “as one of the pioneering entries in the slasher genre,” says the story.
“Its playful tagline, which reads ‘If this movie doesn’t make your skin crawl… It’s on too tight”‘, aptly exemplifies the director’s wry sense of humour – a distinct characteristic that generally imbues his work.”
Clark also made the 1982 sex comedy Porky’s, “still the highest grossing Canadian film internationally,” says BlogTO.
Clark and his son, Ariel, died on Southern California’s Pacific Coast Highway in Pacific Palisades early yesterday when their car was struck by a vehicle whose driver was suspected of being intoxicated, says The Hollywood Reporter.
But Clark’s best-known movie is probably The Christmas Story which, “tells the tale of 9-year-old Ralphie Parker, who dreams of getting a Red Ryder air rifle from Santa Claus,” says the story.
“He ignores, then nearly fulfills, warnings from a series of adults who tell him, ‘You’ll shoot your eye out, kid.’ The sappily sweet comedy has become a Christmas staple on the order of ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ and ‘Miracle on 34th Street’.”
Clark was 67.
