Morissette My Humps burlesque
p2pnet.net news:- Canada’s Alanis Morissette is doing really well with a new viodeo release.
Thanks to the Net.
In My Humps, she lampoons a Black Eyed Peas tune and, “After the video was uploaded to YouTube.com on Monday, most likely by a fan, it unleashed a frenzy of activity,” says dose.ca.
“By yesterday afternoon, the video had been viewed more than 1.8 million times.”
The prevailing theory, says the story, is that it was, “simply an April Fool’s gimmick, while some are comparing it to Tori Amos’ version of Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit. Others say it’s an important feminist statement that questions the portrayal of women in pop culture.
“At the cynical end of the online chatter is the idea that it’s a desperate cry for attention from a fading star. More than one person has suggested that Morissette is taking a stab at her ex-fiance, Ryan Reynolds, and his new girlfriend, Jessica Biel, who’s famous for her shapely rear end.”
“Well done Alanis!” – says “fellow Ottawan” Drakakis on YouTube. “I and my 9 year old daughter thank you for having the guts to ‘punk’ your own colleagues for crossing that not-so-fine line between bad taste and utter depravity.”
“She was known as the Canadian Tiffany for awhile with drum machines, and big hair till she switched up her style,” says HadesHottie. “If hipsters want to fill Alanis Morissettes landfill ego there is nothing anyone can do.”
“By turning the horrendous Black Eyed Peas hit into an earnest, forlorn ballad, Morissette highlights just how laughable these song lyrics really are,” says BuzzSugar.
“Her down-tempo version would be funny on its own, but with the melodramatic, ghetto-fabulous visuals, it’s pretty brilliant.”
Is My Humps parody or burlesque? ;P
