Nettwerk gets $650K handout
p2pnet.net news view:- Canada’s Nettwerk Productions is on the receiving end of a handsome windfall. The Canadian government has awarded it more than half-a-million dollars.
The money, a cool $650,000, comes through the Department of Canadian Heritage’s Music Entrepreneur section of the Canada Music Fund.
“The component enables a greater number of established Canadian music entrepreneurs to offer a diverse range of musical choices, become increasingly competitive internationally, and prepare to succeed in a digitized global environment,” says a press statement.
That’s great news for Nettwerk, and more power to it. It made a huge contribution to music as a whole when it quit the RIAA bandwagon
However, it’s a dynamic company on an upward spiral representing a raft of internationally famous artists of the caliber of Sarah McLachlan, Avril Lavigne and Barenaked Ladies.
Wouldn’t the federal dollars have done more good split up and awarded to less well established indie labels which are struggling to survive?

You wait. Bev Oda will be there looking for freebies from Nettwerk, BNL, etc, when she has another fund raiser, and she’ll get it too.

Wow. Great news.
Maybe there will be some funding for our site,
www.CanadaJams.ca,
Canada’s Live Music Showcase with photo/video reviews of Canadian artists’ shows.
We had just contacted Ms. Oda in February about funding for our site and hearing this news gives us new hope.
