Sandisk, Yahoo, music player

p2pnet.net news:- SanDisk and Yahoo have teamed up to pump a music services for SanDisk’s new $250 flash-based Sansa Connect Wi-Fi-enabled mp3 player, as long as users are registered with Yahoo, and have subscriptions to Yahoo! Music Unlimited To Go.

And Yahoo! Music DRM (Digital Restrictions Management) consumer control doesn’t allow people to copy or transfer music files to other users.

The deal puts the player together with both free and subscription-based services from Yahoo, “allowing consumers to stay constantly connected to their music, photos and friends via Wi-Fi, with no PC required,” promise the two companies —-

The 4-gig Sansa Connect has a 2.2-inch TFT color screen, a microSD slot for music and photo capacity expansion, and an internal speaker.

Currently available only in the US, it’ll go on sale in Canada towards the end of the year, say SanDisk and Yahoo.

“The Sansa Connect player is designed to work seamlessly with a wide range of popular music formats such as MP3 and Windows Media Audio (WMA) in both unprotected and protected files,” says the companies. “While optimized to work wirelessly with Yahoo! Music Unlimited To Go, the player supports all Microsoft PlaysForSure subscription music via a PC connection.”

ZING, a new mobile entertainment technology and services company, developed the product and its Mobile Entertainment Engine provides technology, software and services.
