Bloggers under threat in Malaysia

p2pnet.net news:- Bloggers in Malaysia may soon be forced to register with government authorities.

“Information Minister Zainuddin Maidin said bloggers should not be exempt from the same controls as the mainstream media, and accused them of using lies to overthrow the government, the state Bernama news agency reported,” says Agence France-Presse.

“This is very dangerous as they are writing and taking steps to gain power,” it has information minister Zainuddin Maidin declaring.

‘Zainuddin also supported a proposal by deputy communications minister Shaziman Abu Mansor, who on Wednesday suggested bloggers be registered,”ays AFP, going on:

“Ministers, including Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, have in recent months launched attacks on bloggers and Internet users, accusing them of spreading lies about the government.”

Communications minister Lim Keng Yaik is quoted as stating, “We are not interfering with their rights. But if they behave irresponsibly, we will take away their rights. The way they blog, with all that filth inside, do you think they are responsible?”

Tired of being treated like a criminal? They depend on you, not the other way around. Don’t buy their ‘product’. Do bug your local politicians. Use emails, snail-mail, phone calls, faxes, IM, stop them in the street, blog. And if you’re into organizing, organize petitions, organize demonstrations and then turn up on your local political rep’s doorstep, making sure you’ve contacted your local tv/radio station/newspaper in advance. Don’t just complain. Do something!

Well, sorry to say Malaysia is making the wrong headlines again!
Interested in story about a big Malaysian Company (National Air Carrier) which terminated their pregnant(3rd pregnancy) stewardess (with 14 years experience) just because of her pregnancy?

I can’t blog about this as I have been instructed by the Kuala Lumpur Industrial courts that I am in contempt of court, as it was brought to the Court Chairman’s attention that I was blogging on her case (she happens to be my wife)….

    I have the details….email: alliedmartster@gmail.com
