Yes, The idea of "weeding out" stations that don't make enough money to pay the royalties IS just ridiculous. As an internet broadcaster, I DO NOT generate any revenue. My station was designed for EXPOSURE to the artists, and an outlet for listeners to support these artists. My hard-spent money goes into music, sweepers, royalties, etc to run this station. By charging outragious rates, you will personally bankrupt me, and when that happens, you will definitely see some retaliation which may include a court fight.

No matter what, someone will have to vome up with answers to simple questions:

1. When will the licenscess of performance licenses get the necessary information to know what music they are paying for?

All they know now is that when they pay for a license they acquire the rights to use XX millions of musical works, but no idea which ones they are.

2. Who will audit and insure insure that the performance money reaches the artists and songwriters? Currently all or almost all the money flows through "scam" publishers and record companies. Hardly any of the money gets to the creators.

3. When will some one come up with a unified, not spaghetized (lawyerized a better word?) system? This nonsense of having two systems, one for radio/television broadcasting and another for internet broadcasing with totally different concepts at work? If artists (performers) should benefit from internet broadcastinf why not from radio beroacasting too?

The reason no one is answering the simple questions is simple: The cartels are pulling in difrerent directions, artists and songwriters are simple manipulated bystanders and the legislators are so busy raising funds and getting reelected that they do not have time to think and work.
