Taking a bite out of Apple
p2pnet.net Opinion:- CNN said of the newly discovered Apple Trojan, “it appears to prey on the popularity of Apple’s popular music service. However, it has not been released into the ‘wild’ or on the Internet, and therefore remains low risk”.
‘No Risk’ would have been more accurate.
The Apple Trojan MP3Concept (MP3Virus.Gen) Story was a story because it was the first time anything has turned up which had the potential to get into the Apple core.
It didn’t do the Mac security firm Intego any harm either.
But you never know and lots of PC users were waiting for the bug to bite. Why do they always get infected while Apple owners (and Linux) seem to escape – they were asking themselves.
It’s now apparent nothing dire is about to happen (not that anyone predicted that it would : ) but it’ll be interesting to see how long Apple (and Linux) continue to escape the attentions of e-virus breeders.
Certainly, the difference between Apple and PCs is more than just operating systems and although the likes of Hewlett-Packard and IBM would like to think otherwise, where an Apple is an APPLE, a PC is a only a PC.
But a Challenge is also a Challenge and ‘First’ tends to mean more will follow.

THIS is on the front page of CNN. 23 people died in the vietnam of our time, and this is news. It’s not a virus, and it’s not news if it HASN’T INFECTED ANYONE

windows get infected for the simiple reason that visual basic is interwoven into windows… it’s is HIGHLY unlikely apple will ever experience viruses because it’s designed NOT to allow this type of macro programing. windows and osx are NOT the same, but still most of the general public think they are… please educate the public… OSX has LITTLE similarity in design to Windows.

well, i beg to differ. i’ve run macs since the Apple 2Gs, i now run a 500/500 G4 and i can safely say that i’ve had a virus…well at least a “quasi”-virus. I got it when “Hotline” was still a baby (and the phrase “P2P” was not even in existance yet). this hotline virus decided to delete files i had on my hotline server, and those it didn’t delete…it hid from view. there wasn’t any virus-protection out there for macs yet (at least no good ones) so the only way i could remove the virus was to reinstall the system tome, and reinstall the hotline app it’s self. i now run a hotline server and a KDX server…and all is well.

“Taking a bite out of Apple”
What an ingenious title! I never heard that one before.
