Joost TV is piracy proof: claim

p2pnet.net news:- Talk about asking for trouble. Niklas Zenstrom and Janus Friis have issued a virtual challenge to hackers.

Their brainchild, Joost TV, is “piracy-proof,” they claim.

Zenstrom and Friis made their bones on Kazaa which, although it’s now a corporate p2p application, was once the poster child for file sharing.

These days the two work for eBay, which made them billionaires when it bought their Skype online phone system.

“Content creators and owners of all sizes are utilizing Joost’s high-quality, piracy-proof Internet platform,” they say in a promo, according to WebTVWire, going on:

“That is one heck of a bold claim to make. If Joost thinks that it won’t be possible for someone to record the videos broadcast on Joost, cut out the adverts, and distribute them illegally over the net then it is extremely misguided.

“No matter how fool proof the anti-piracy technology someone always finds a way around it.”

Definitely stay tuned :p

Will Joost continue to be free after beta? If so, is it really piracy to redistribute?

More info on this that was posted a while back: http://www.joostteam.com/2007/03/08/free-is-joost-solution-to-content-piracy-or-is-there-a-solution/

They used Youtube to distribute the demo. It would be funny irony if they use Kazaa!
