Thunderbird 2 on the wing
p2pnet.net news:- Mozilla says its free Thunderbird 2, released yesterday, is a major update to its open source email client and includes support for Vista and an updated user interface.
Available for Windows, Mac, or Linux operating systems, it works in over 35 languages.
Users can add tags such as ‘to do’ to messages and sort through email by history.
Search starts showing results as soon as users begin typing and specific searches can be stored in folders.
Thunderbird 2 can also tap other the likes of Gmail and Mac, using just a user name and password
“Thunderbird protects you from email scams which try to trick users into handing over personal and confidential information by indicating when a message is a potential phishing attempt,” says Mozilla. “As a second line of defense, Thunderbird warns you when you click on a link which appears to be taking you to a different Web site than the one indicated by the URL in the message.”
And, users will be glad to know, it’ll block remote images in emails, and the no-junk-please filter can learn about spam messages to block look-alikes.
