p2pnet.net news:- Wireless broadband provider The Cloud says its coverage of the City of London’s financial and business centre, aka the Square Mile, is Europe’s most advanced.
It’ll be free for the next month. but after that, it goes on the meter, ie, ã12 a month (today, about $23) for unlimited access to broadband speeds of up to 8MBs, or a hefty ã4.50 (today, about $9) per hour.
The service will arrive via a mobile broadband mesh of 127 nodes which, “look like small black beer barrels attached to strategically placed lampposts,” says The Times Online, adding:
“City workers reticent to join the always-on culture may want to consider hunkering down during sunny lunchtimes in one of the privately owned areas of the Square Mile, such as Finsbury Square, which will not be covered by the City service.”
