Police cleared in Pirate Bay raid
p2pnet.net news:- Last summer, the Bush administration was accused of threatening to take action against Sweden with the World Trade Organization unless the country did something about The Pirate Bay, which calls Sweden home.
Police raids temporarily shut the site down, but not for long, and Swedish justice minister Thomas Bodström denied that politicians had attempted to direct police operations, refuting the accusations that American officials had waved the WTO stick at Sweden.
Now, “The Justice Ombudsman elected in April not to criticize police or prosecutors for their part in the raid,” says The Local going on:
“He did however note that a number of companies and private individuals with no connection to the Pirate Bay had been affected by the raid.
The Chancellor of Justice has not yet decided whether or not the innocent victims of the raid should receive compensation. Sweden’s Constitutional Committee is still expected to deal with complaints about the involvement of then Justice Minister Thomas Bodström.”
meanwhile, “Prosecutor HÃ¥kan Roswall has made it clear that he intends pressing charges against individuals connected with the Pirate Bay,” says the story.
Meanwhile, TPB has just launched a new site where punters are asked to pay whatever they can afford for downloads.
