eBay the ivory runner

p2pnet.net news:- Online auctioneer eBay is getting it from two directions. It’s being accused of being an ivory runner and also of allowing stolen goods to be sold on its UK site.

In the first charge, The International Fund for Animal Welfare says people are often able to sell goods such as ivory necklaces without documentation to prove they’re being offered legally.

“An investigation of 2,275 ivory listings during seven days in February – which examined eBay Inc. sites in the United States, Britain, China, and other countries – found laws were not being rigorously enforced,,” it says, according to MSNBC News Services.

“More than 90 percent of listings were found to violate eBay’s own wildlife policies – designed to stop trading in endangered animals, the group claims,” says the story.

The IFAW said a search of eBay US for ivory, “returned hundreds of items”. In a random sample of 90 of the listings, only four were compliant with eBay policies, says MSNBC.

“On eBay’s British site, 10 of 424 ivory listings were found to be compliant, the group’s report said.”

Still in the UK, retailers want eBay to “clamp down on stolen goods being sold on its British site, says the Daily Mail.

“House of Fraser, River Island, Asda and other retailers met the company and asked it to share intelligence on suspect sellers,” it says.

“They also demanded that eBay ban the sale of credit notes and vouchers sold by high street stores.”

Shoplifters return stolen goods and exchange them for vouchers, says the story.

Tired of being treated like a criminal? They depend on you, not the other way around. Don’t buy their ‘product’. Do bug your local politicians. Use emails, snail-mail, phone calls, faxes, IM, stop them in the street, blog. And if you’re into organizing, organize petitions, organize demonstrations and then turn up on your local political rep’s doorstep, making sure you’ve contacted your local tv/radio station/newspaper in advance. these are money hogging pigs, basically what i mean is that they don’t care at all about the animals, they care about taking rights away, heck animals today have more rights than a human being, but not of course more than those of the humans that are rich..

if you want to find the true animal lovers take a look not up high to the rich but to the poor, starving and dying —- here’s u’ll also find the real vegetarians, real environmentalists, etc…
