Listener controlled indie radio

p2pnet.net news:- GCap Media’s XFM may well become Britain’s first truly P2P indie rock network.

DJs Marsha and Graeme Smith “will disappear between 10am and 4pm each weekday,” says the Times Online. Listeners will instead, “choose the music through text message and votes on the XFM website,” says the story. “Messages left by listeners will punctuate the stream of music.”

It’ll all start happening this month in the networks London, Scotland and Manchester stations.

“Now the bits in between the records in Xfm are going to be jingles, adverts, and the occasional news bulletin,” says Guardian Unlimited, adding, “Oh, and audio inserts recorded and sent in by the likes of ‘Paul from Wimbledon’.”

Tired of being treated like a criminal? They depend on you, not the other way around. Don’t buy their ‘product’. Do bug your local politicians. Use emails, snail-mail, phone calls, faxes, IM, stop them in the street, blog. And if you’re into organizing, organize petitions, organize demonstrations and then turn up on your local political rep’s doorstep, making sure you’ve contacted your local tv/radio station/newspaper in advance. Don’t just complain. Do something!
