Avis launches Wi-Fi service
p2pnet.net news:- Undaunted by reports that prolonged exposure to Wi-Fi can fry users’ brains, the Avis Rent A Car System says it’ll be offering broadband Wi-Fi with the launch of its new Avis Connect service —–
—– for $11 per day.
The first Avis Connect units will be available starting today at San Francisco International Airport and will be offered in the coming weeks at Avis airport locations in San Jose, Oakland, Los Angeles and Newark, followed in the third quarter at airport locations in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, New York, San Diego and Seattle, it says.
The service was developed by Autonet Mobile and, “The Avis Connect service allows multiple Wi-Fi enabled devices to connect to the Internet, giving business and leisure travelers unlimited access to data, music, games, chat and anything else they might like to access while they travel,” according to Autonet Mobile ceo Sterling Pratz. “Anyone who has a Wi-Fi enabled laptop or device can simply log on and surf.”
Avis Connect is compatible with all Wi-Fi enabled devices, including laptops, Ultra-Mobile PC handhelds and PDAs, promise the companies.

Tired of being treated like a criminal? They depend on you, not the other way around. Don’t buy their ‘product’. Do bug your local politicians. Use emails, snail-mail, phone calls, faxes, IM, stop them in the street, blog. And if you’re into organizing, organize petitions, organize demonstrations and then turn up on your local political rep’s doorstep, making sure you’ve contacted your local tv/radio station/newspaper in advance. Don’t just complain. Do something!
