Japan wants online movies
p2pnet.net news:- The “time-consuming” and “costly” process of gaining consent from copyright holders to distribute movies and videos, “hinders the widespread use of them via the Internet,” says the Japanese government.
So within the next two years, it plans to establish a new law to facilitate their online distribution by, “simplifying procedures,” says the Australian Associated Press.
The planned law will be designed to, “sort out a complicated set of related laws so as to activate content businesses and give consumers easier access to them,” says the story, continuing, “At present, the distribution of movies and video programs over the internet need to secure consent from holders of copyrights, trademarks and all other related rights”.
The new Japanese ease of access plan will be, “officially endorsed at a meeting on May 31 of the government’s Intellectual Property Strategy Headquarters, which will be attended by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe,” adds AAP.
