Britain’s camcording SuperWardens

p2pnet.net OT news:- You thought cinema ushers with night vision goggles creeping up and down the aisles to catch supposed camcording pirates in the act were bad?

How about this, then?

Some 20 privately-employed camcording ’super wardens’ are slated to be turned loose in Greater Manchester, says the Manchester Evening News, from whence we clipped the pic on the right.

“Their main role is to issue parking tickets but under legislation brought in last year they will also have powers to give on-the-spot fines for anti-social behaviour,” says the story.

It doesn’t explain how, or by whom, they’ve been trained to make decisions about what’s anti-social what’s perhaps simply high spirits.

They’ll be empowered to charge offenders as much as £80 (today about $159) for offences including “littering, flyposting and allowing dogs to foul the pavement,” says the story, adding, “In some cases the footage could be handed to police and used in court.”

Will they have to get their victims to sign wavers before the videos can be used?

Tired of being treated like a criminal? They depend on you, not the other way around. Don’t buy their ‘product’. Do bug your local politicians. Use emails, snail-mail, phone calls, faxes, IM, stop them in the street, blog. And if you’re into organizing, organize petitions, organize demonstrations and then turn up on your local political rep’s doorstep, making sure you’ve contacted your local tv/radio station/newspaper in advance. Don’t just complain. Do something!

    Now they can see us.
    Now we can see you.
Clasp your hands behind your heads.
Stand out in the middle of the room. Stand back-to-back.
    Do not touch one another.
    The house is surrounded.
    The house is surrounded.
I suppose we may as well say goodbye.
You may as well say goodbye. While we’re on the subject…
“Here comes a candle to light you to bed.
“Here comes a chopper to chop off your head.”

If their buddies aren’t around, mace them and run. Priates, be sure to have a quick change of clothes handy :-)

…whose only job is to create revenue for their masters. They’ve even been known to fabricate evidence in order to gain a ticket. Even been known to ticket a bus at a bus stop!! Little Hitlers with a bit of power.. of course, thats only my opinon (and no, I’ve never been ticketed by them…)

Dunno about you, but I would rather have the pig’s actions recorded in realtime than the current state of affairs, where it’s just your word against theirs.

Not surprising in the least, considering Britain is perhaps the
most heavily surveilled society in the world right now.
