Aussie sex-offender database
p2pnet.net news:- Having given in to US demands to release information on registered sex offenders, MySpace now wants Australia establish a system, “that would allow it to share information about sex offenders using the social networking site,” says the Sydney Morning Herald.
MySpace is, of course, owned by Oz Super Baron Rupert Murdoch.
In America, MySpace has organised a deal with Sentinel Tech Holding two gather data on US sex offenders and has arranged for law enforcement agencies to use the Sentinel software directly.
Now, “Rod Nockles, director of safety and security for Fox Interactive, said MySpace was looking to set up a similar system in Australia,” says the SMH.
“We have sought meetings with the commonwealth justice minister and the states’ attorneys general and police ministers and we are proposing the creation in this country of a sex offender database,” he said.
MySpace has also announced a partnership, “with child protection group Bravehearts in which the charity created its own MySpace page to provide information on dealing with sexual abuse,” says the story, adding:
“Mr Nockles said the alliance would spread the word about sexual abuse prevention and did not specifically relate to online predators.”

Tired of being treated like a criminal? They depend on you, not the other way around. Don’t buy their ‘product’. Do bug your local politicians. Use emails, snail-mail, phone calls, faxes, IM, stop them in the street, blog. And if you’re into organizing, organize petitions, organize demonstrations and then turn up on your local political rep’s doorstep, making sure you’ve contacted your local tv/radio station/newspaper in advance. Don’t just complain. Do something!

Am I the ONLY person who realizes that this stuff is being done exclusively for MySpace to deflect the anti-MySpace rampage politicians are using to get more votes and look like they’re doing something? Go to http://angryoffender.com/ and read the article entitled “A Sex Offender Registry Proves Itself Worthless” for more information; I’d rather not post it all here.
