iGasm cashes in on Apple’s anger
p2pnet.net OT news:- “Perhaps I can send them an iGasm to put a smile back on their faces!”
That’s the reaction of Ann Summers’ boss Jacqueline Gold, quoted by the New York Daily News, to reports that Apple is highly upset over the new iGasm iPod add-on, designed specifically to give female users Good Vibrations from iTunes downloads.
It’s a $60 plug-’n-play device with a difference.
Say no more ;P ———– OK – say more.
The iGasm is sold by UK sex-toy maker Ann Summers. And she’s making hay with Apple’s anger, offering free iPhones in a promo linked to the fuss.
Says the company web site, “Load up your iPod with killa choons and take your appreciation of music to a whole new level. Just turn up the volume to increase the strength of the vibrations and believe us when we say that full whack is PHENOMENAL.”
And Newfactor has Diane Duke, executive director of America’s Free Speech Coalition, saying she thinks Apple should take Gold up on her offer.
“If pressed,” she said, according to the story, going on, “this issue will most likely be resolved in the courts, but I think that Apple is seriously misreading their customer base. I believe that any association with iGasm would be positive, so instead of suing Ann Summers, Apple should offer them a deal.”
Apple is said to have been angered by the remarkably close resemblance the iGasm ad has to iPod ads.
As England’s News of the World said in its original story, “”The neon-pink ads feature a curvaceous girl with wires coming OUT of her MP3 player and INTO her knickers,” says the News of the World. “And it’s definitely turned on.”
Meanwhile, Ann Summers is cashing in on the furor.
“With iGasm being sued by Apple’s lawyers, we’ve been asked to do some investigative reporting,” says the iGasm site.
“Do the iGasm ads cross the line? For a limited time, participants in this survey will receive a FREE iPHONE! Thank you for your help – you can VOTE HERE!”
But from the look of it, it’s only available to UK Ann Summers customers.
