Health for sale: online
p2pnet.net OT news:- Ummm, make mine a, let’s see, Prevnar Vaccine ($144) and Colonoscopy ($424), and maybe a Hep-HIB Combo ($100) on the side.
Look good? All three feature on an online menu published by an American medical health sales site.
HealthCare Partners says it’s a, “multispecialty medical group dedicated to the well-being and the respectful, compassionate healing” of patients and communities”.
And it’s not embarrassed to say how much it’ll be charging.
The medical group, based in southern California, is, “the first and largest health organization” in America, “to make prices for procedures easily available to the public,” says Associated Press, adding:
“The Los Angeles Times reports that Robert Margolis, a founding physician and chief executive of the medical group, said it felt ‘like the right thing to do’.”
What’s next?
Don’t ask.

Tired of being treated like a criminal? They depend on you, not the other way around. Don’t buy their ‘product’. Do bug your local politicians. Use emails, snail-mail, phone calls, faxes, IM, stop them in the street, blog. And if you’re into organizing, organize petitions, organize demonstrations and then turn up on your local political rep’s doorstep, making sure you’ve contacted your local tv/radio station/newspaper in advance. Don’t just complain. Do something!
