American Pie: chapter and verse
p2pnet.net news:- If The Beatles’ Sgt Pepper is iconic so, surely, is Don Maclean’s American Pie.
It means something different to everyone who’s ever heard it, and much of its fascination lies in the fact the lyrics refer to so many major incidents in the early history of American music that it’s hard to keep track of them.
The average person won’t be able to identify every event mentioned, and it’ll stymie even a lot of professional musicologists.
So it’s interesting to see The Meaning of American Pie, a YouTube video which attempts to outline each and every reference.
One hell of a task and something you’d probably only see attempted on the Net.
Among other things, the video suggests The Beatles originally got the the idea to name their band after an insect from by Buddy Holly’s The Crickets.
It’d had 135,617 views when we looked at it and 11:13 am Pacific.
