Paper that talks

p2pnet.net news:- ‘Listen up’ as a new meaning. Fourth generation paper able to talk directly to computers is being developed by researchers at the Mid Sweden University forestry industry research program Fiber Science and Communication Network (FSCN).

“We combine paper with printed graphic codes and electronically conductive ink that is engineered to be sensitive to pressure,” says Paper Four. Then digital information is embedded in the paper and when it’s touched, “the information comes out via printed speakers,” says project leader Mikael Gulliksson.

The technology has been used in a prototype for a “slightly bowed” music display board.

Music album covers are printed directly on paper and samples can be heard when someone touches them.

“The board can easily be replaced as soon as there are new recordings to be marketed,” says Gulliksson. “This new display technology is inexpensive, combining images, sound, and space in a new an environmentally friendly way. After use, the displays can be tossed into the recycle bin.

Tired of being treated like a criminal? They depend on you, not the other way around. Don’t buy their ‘product’. Do bug your local politicians. Use emails, snail-mail, phone calls, faxes, IM, stop them in the street, blog. And if you’re into organizing, organize petitions, organize demonstrations and then turn up on your local political rep’s doorstep, making sure you’ve contacted your local tv/radio station/newspaper in advance. Don’t just complain. Do something!
