Orange ad was ‘misleading’
p2pnet.net news:- Britain’s Advertising Standards Authority has upheld a complaint from Orange rival T-Mobile that an Orange magazine advertisement was misleading.
“It’s easy to stay close to friends and family all year round with wireless home broadband from Orange,” stated the ad, says Computing. “You also get unlimited UK and international calls to 100 countries and unlimited downloads. All from home.”
Then came the small print: calls were limited to a “fair usage” of 1,000 minutes a month, which wasn’t included in the ad, says the BBC.
It was all down to a production error, the Computing has Orange insisted.
The ad breached the ASA’s Substantiation and Truthfulness codes, says Computing, adding:
“The watchdog has told Orange to ensure that it includes a reference to its fair usage policy when using an unlimited claim in future, and advised the firm to seek guidance from the ASA for future ads.”

Tired of being treated like a criminal? They depend on you, not the other way around. Don’t buy their ‘product’. Do bug your local politicians. Use emails, snail-mail, phone calls, faxes, IM, stop them in the street, blog. And if you’re into organizing, organize petitions, organize demonstrations and then turn up on your local political rep’s doorstep, making sure you’ve contacted your local tv/radio station/newspaper in advance. Don’t just complain. Do something!
