Unfortunately it's the same in many other countries. I think you need to look to smaller less impressionable countries for 'fair' government.

I don't think there is a lot of us who would disagree with him that he has issue when someone makes money from his work is wrong.

I too read the comment attributed to Michael Moore that he didn't mind his work being on p2p. He knows that once it is there, grabbing the film to remove it from the public eye is no longer possible. There will be those that are hosted outside the US and out of reach of corporate protectionism.

It's a sad state of affairs when nationally acclaimed heroes can find help medically in places the home nation despises. I think it speaks volumes of just where we are and who controls what.

Looking back at what's going on in Washington and the way our country is run, including the constant attrition of granted inalienable rights, it is plain the crooks and scam artists are in control of our government and once the voters have expressed their wishes, hardly an official looks back to see what is best for the voter beyond lip service.

Line their pockets and war chests with money and the results are the finest laws money can buy. Only it isn't done with the idea of what's best for the country but rather who contributed to the politician presently sitting in power. You constantly hear that money doesn't affect the voting nor direction of what comes out in bills. You have only to look at how they are written, who benefits, and follow the money trail, to see that isn't the case. It's laws for sale to the highest bidder. So high that Joe Six Pack isn't able to compete once the baby kissing phase is over.

Sicko addresses this in plain and very clear language as to who benefits and why. Insurance, pharma, and medical corporations receive big bucks. They don't hesitate to take your money but when it comes time to receive benefits from those payments, that's a different story. Anytime they can deny you coverage because of any small loophole in the contract (which is purposely written to provide bundles of them) you don't receive coverage. That's not exactly what you pay for is it?

The example of a man with a choice that is no choice in Sicko is that he can have one of two finger tips reattached. The ring finger will cost him $12,000 and the index finger tip will cost him $60,000. You tell me what the difference is. Only that the providers don't want to spend the money they collected for the purpose they collected it for.

When you can go to another third world country and receive medication at 5¢ for what costs $120 for the exact same medication here, you know something is serious wrong with our health care. The attempts to prevent our own citizens going outside the borders of this country to obtain life saving medications at a reasonable cost shows us what is most important to our lawmakers and it isn't who put them in office.
