Sony disconnects Sony Connect
p2pnet.net news:- More sad days at Sony.
Sony recently denied a report saying it was close to shutting down its music service, but, on top of its various other woes, it’s had to admit Sony Connect failed to connect.
Calling it an experiment, the company is closing its music and video services over the next little while.
Some 20-plus jobs are being phased out, although the eBooks division will remain, said paidContent.org, adding
:”Steve Banfield, the head of the Sony Connect division, will be leaving in the next few weeks, and Tim Schaaff and Fumi Kanagwa from Sony corporate will now run what’s left of Connect engineering team. The remaining team of around 80 will be devoted support Playstation.”
Will the Sony Connect brand die as well? And what about the SonicStage software?
Stay tuned.

Tired of being treated like a criminal? They depend on you, not the other way around. Don’t buy their ‘product’. Do bug your local politicians. Use emails, snail-mail, phone calls, faxes, IM, stop them in the street, blog. And if you’re into organizing, organize petitions, organize demonstrations and then turn up on your local political rep’s doorstep, making sure you’ve contacted your local tv/radio station/newspaper in advance. Don’t just complain. Do something!

Actually this was later shown to have been inaccurate reporting.
The Connect service is not closing down, just shifting some personnel to the Playstation division, and laying off 20 employees.
atraclife.com has some discussion on this in their forum, if anyone wants more.
