Teen hacks Belgian police site
p2pnet.net news:- A 17-year-old Belgian boy from the Brussels suburb of Rhode-Saint-Genese hacked into, and temporarily shut down, the federal police site leaving the message, “The security of your site well reflects the police’s lack of competence. Webmaster: You better go and revise the system. Government: Recruit higher calibre police officers…”
The teenager was questioned and released over the weekend, says Agency France-Presse, going on:
“According to the regional Sud Presse newspapers, which broke the story, a message in French was posted on the site saying: ‘The Spycheck Team must be happy that a boy of 17 has hacked the Belgian police website’.”

Tired of being treated like a criminal? They depend on you, not the other way around. Don’t buy their ‘product’. Do bug your local politicians. Use emails, snail-mail, phone calls, faxes, IM, stop them in the street, blog. And if you’re into organizing, organize petitions, organize demonstrations and then turn up on your local political rep’s doorstep, making sure you’ve contacted your local tv/radio station/newspaper in advance. Don’t just complain. Do something!

From the Belgian national TV report of this evening it appear this boy actually received help from a French and a Swiss in his hacking attempt. Given his young age, is was also reported that he would be judged under youth jurisdiction and that his parents would be liable for any costs related to this incident, which is they normal way things happen here when dealing with “criminals” under the age of 18. Well sort of, because in cases of stealing, it regularly happens that even recidivists children are released quite easily, and only in cases extreme delinquency will minors be put in “closed” reformatory houses.
I doubt such a hacking exploit can really be seen as extreme delinquency as there’s no violence involved.
What may also be interesting is this case is that Rhode St. Genèse is one of the typical places where wealthy Belgian families reside.
