MP3.com song recovery service

p2pnet.net News:- If you’re an ex-MP3.com member and you think you lost the music you had on the site, there may yet be hope.

It all depends on desperate you are.

Remember TruSONIC?

It was a Vivendi 2002 roll-out fitted up with MP3.com technology.

Last year it bought the truSONIC brand and with it, licenses to more than 1.5 million songs by “high-quality Independent Artists”.

Your tunes, in other words, and the idea was TruSonic would use your music “for purposes of distribution to businesses”.

Put another way, songs from former MP3.com subscribers could be heard by the masses in such well-known musical outlets as Petco Pet Supplies, Spencer Gifts, Comp USA, Champs Sports, O’Charley’s Restaurants, Rubio’s Baja Grill, Great Clips Hair Salons, AMC Theatres, Books-A-Million Booksellers, Affiliated Foods Midwest, IGA Grocery Stores, HealthMart Pharmacies, the Minneapolis-St Paul Airport and the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration, to name but a few outlets.

TruSonic clients could, in turn, “Insert promotions, audio advertisements or employee messages to your music playlists. In-store messaging features deliver highly targeted marketing messages at the point of purchase. Telephone-on-hold messaging connects with your existing phone systems and reaches customers while they wait on hold. You’ll have the ability to make updates within 24 hours. You can easily allocate ad space to outside advertisers as well as promote your own business. You can even give your advertisers detailed weekly reports to help them make media-buying decisions.”

So what do ex-MP3.com members have to do to get their music from TruSonic?

“Just log into Trusonic and click ‘I agree,’ says its site here, and “We’ll automatically re-generate your Artist pages using your original MP3.com content and songs.”

Then what?

Well, here’s the FAQ.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Q. When MP3.com shut down, wasn’t everything deleted?

A. No. The former MP3.com was indeed shut down. However, a division of MP3.com, called Trusonic, remained in business as a separate company, and saved the over 1.7 million songs by 250,000 bands who had legally opted in to the Trusonic program. Trusonic has your songs only if those songs were enrolled in the Trusonic Music Program as of December 19, 2003. Trusonic does not have access to songs that were not enrolled in the Trusonic Music Program.

Q. Does GarageBand.com have access to my former MP3.com account?

A. Not without your permission. As a former MP3.com user, you may have given permission to Trusonic to save a copy of your content. If so, they’ve saved a copy of your former MP3.com account and songs, and they’re waiting for your permission to re-open your account.

Q. How do I re-open my former MP3.com account?

A. You just need to give Trusonic permission to transfer your content to GarageBand.com. Once you do so, we will automatically generate new webpages for your band using the archived copy of your former MP3.com account. Start by clicking here.

Q. How will the process work?

A. There are a few simple steps:

First, log-in to Trusonic using your old MP3.com user/password.
With a click, give Trusonic permission to send us your content.
You’ll return to GarageBand.com and we’ll give you a new FREE account.
We’ll automatically generate new webpages using your band(s) info.
We’ll ask you which songs to transfer to GarageBand.com.

Q. What do I need to pay?

A. For FREE you get a basic account at GarageBand.com which includes a band website and lifetime hosting for 3 songs. You can add additional songs for $6.99 each. If you have a lot of songs, you can buy a lifetime Gold membership, which entitles you to add an unlimited number of songs for a one-time fee of $99.

Q. What if I already have an account at GarageBand.com?

A. Your old MP3.com bands can be transferred to your existing GB account. If you’ve already registered those bands at GarageBand, then we’ll give you the option to transfer only the songs and attach them to your existing account.

Q. Are you connected with CNET? I thought they bought MP3.com?

A. No, we’re not affiliated with CNET. They bought the mp3.com domain name, but not the archived band accounts. Trusonic has the only surviving copy of the former MP3.com archive.

Question. By posting music to mp3.com did artists by default give permission for their works to be used commercially? It looks like they did. It also looks like Trusonic agreed to pay royalties. Has anybody gotten paid? Are they again signing away rights by “give(ing) Trusonic permission to send us (GarageBand.com) your content”? Can someone who knows how to decode legalese boilerplate check it out and let us know?

looks like they only recovered songs that opted-in to the Trusonic agreement. I tried to recover my old MP3.com songs, and most were available but a few were not (presumably because I hadn’t opted-in to Trusonic for those songs).

I think this trusonic thing was somehting they had as an option on the site, and most people checked “yes” but not everybody. And for what they’re doing now, it’s pretty clear that their asking for the musician’s explicit permission — which is more than one would expect from any other music company ;)

I AM LOOKING TO CAMMUNICATE WITH JANET JACKSON, MY NAME IS REGINALD STENNIS. I AM INTERESTED IN DISCUSSING THE FALL OF 2001 WITH JANET, WHEN I WAS DEEPLY IN LOVE WITH UTOPIA A. POPE LAYING IN BED ON MY SIDE TO SIDE WHEN JANET AND I DECIDED TO MAKE SOME NEW-MUSIC OUT OF THE EXPIERANCE. I WAS JUST AN AVERAGE JO TYPE OF FELLOW LIVING THE LIFE OF AN ARTIST LIKE PRECASSO (ACCORDING TO A LARGE STATUTE NEETLY PLACED IN THE CENTER OF DOWNTOWN CHICAGO,ILL. THAT FROM ONE ANGLE OF IT’S POINT OF VIEW IT SEEMS TO LOOK LIKE A CRACKED HEART WITH A HUGE TEERDROP, THE OTHER ANGLE MAKES IT LOOK LIKE IT IS A HUGE HEART WITH WINGS, OTHER ANGLES PRESENT OTHER VARIOUS PICTURES,… WELL BECAUSE I AM REGINALD STENNIS I TRIBUTE THE ART OF COMPOSING NEW-MUSIC TO THE FACT THAT I BECAME A LOVECHILD EARLY IN LIFE.
I LOST MY MOTHER AT THE TENDER AGE OF SIX YEARS, AND BOTH SETS OF GRANDPARENTS, AND FINALLY MY DAD BECAUSE HE WAS A WORK-AHOLIC WHOES HEART WENT BAD. JANET JACKSON MADE A GOOD STANDING OF IT ALL AND HELPED ME PUT THINGS INTO PROPER PRESPECTIVE EXPLAINING EVERYTHING TO ME BEYOND WHERE TONI BRAXTON HAD LEFT OFF IN GUIDED ME WHILE I WAS WHEELCHAIR BOUND DUE TO A L-2 SPINALCORD BREAKAGE, AND A C-4 FRACTURE PRYOR TO HAVING A CHANCE TO HEAR THE COMPELLINGLY MOTIVATING DISCUSSION WITH JANET. MY LOVE FOR WRITING WAS CREATED WHEN I WAS AS YOUNG AS I COULD REMEMBER. I DID NOT PLAY WITH THE TOYS AS ALL THE OTHER KIDS DID I IMATATED THE CARTOONS AND DECIDED TO ENJOY WHAT I WANTED TO WATCH AND STARTED DRAWING COMICS. UNTIL I WAS BORED WITH THE COMICS AND DECIDED THAT THEY NEEDED TO BE ABLE TO CAMUNICATE WITH EACH OTHER. SO I ASKED MY OLDER BROTHERS, AUNTS, AND EVERYBODY HOW TO SPELL THE WORDS. I KNOW I WAS A PAIN IN EVERBODYS MAINFRAME NOW THAT I AM GROWN. THE COMICS LEAD TO SHORT STORIES, THE SHORT STORIES LEAD TO BOOKS AND SO ON. MY FIRST LOVE WAS WRITING IT WAS WAY MORE FUN TO ME WITH UNLIMITED POSSABLITIES THAN READING, AND I ACTUALLY LEARNED BEFORE I EVEN STARTED SCHOOL BY ACCEDENT.I AM Reginald Stennis at: lovetoloveya4life@yahoo.com
ENOUGH OF THE CHILDHOOD PAST. I AM REGINALD STENNIS THIS IS WHO I AM AND I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED TO WRITE. SOME BOOK I HAVE ENJOYED ALONG THE WAY THAT WERE WRITEN BY OTHER AUTHORS LIKE “THE GREATEST MIRACLE,” BY OGMAN DINO, ECT.
THE SUBJECT AT HAND IS NEW-MUSIC LIKE “21Questions,” on the “GET RICH OR DIE TRYING,” ALBUM. WELL , THE CREATION IS NEW ALTHOUGH SONG IS ACTUALLY SEVEN YEARS OLD. I AM TALKING ABOUT CREATING MORE MUSIC THAT HAS NOT EVER BEEN HEARD ANYWHERE BEFORE. MY E-MAIL ADRRESS IS:lovetoloveya4life@yahoo.com and my name is Reginald Stennis,I AM PROUD OF JANET AND HER ART AND I WANT TO SEE HER PREFORMANCE AS A ARTIST
