Warner, Sony BMG, Russian partnership
p2pnet.net news:- Warner Music and Sony BMG say they’ve formed ‘Digital Access’ with Russian industrial group Access Industries, and music labels Soyuz and Nikitin Records.
The new business will distribute music, full-track audio downloads, ringtones, video clips and colour images into both Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States, a grouping of 12 ex-Soviet states, says Reuters.
It’s a, “strategic investment that we believe will play a pivotal role in unlocking the potential of the dynamic Russian music market,” the story has Warner Music International’s Patrick Vien saying.
“As a wholesale offering it will work with rights owners, content providers, mobile operators and on-line stores in making music available from the companies’ extensive catalogues rather than dealing with consumers directly,” adds Reuters.
Alexander Vaisblat, formerly with Independent Network Television Holding (TV3 Russia), will be in charge, and the company HQ will be in Moscow, says FMQB Radio 1.
Digital Access is expected to kick off officially towards the end of the year.
