what no 3G! how dare they replace 3G for a even faster network in fact why not allow support for the very old and slow dual band European networks internet. (if you wanted your phone to work in us you had to get tri band).

considering the cost of phone network licenses apple would only get one and the fact they chose the newest and fastest at the time is more common sense than anything else (phone network probably set by AT&T anyway)

Some people (or many) would say that it's revoloutionary in not what's done, but how it's done - such as the ease of use.

So what? Its all marketing, whats wrong with that? Nothing is wrong with that, its pretty smart too. The ability to make money by attaching other services, pretty well done. The thing that should be addressed is how they market it. The iPhone is "revolutionary" as claimed by many people, but what is so revolutionary? Surfing? You can on other phones, txting? Can do on any phone. Videos? Already done. Photos? Already done. So whats revolutionary? Absolutely nothing.

Unfortunately I would have to agree with the original post. This is not apple bashing, this is telling the truth. There is absolutely nothing revolutionary about the iPhone. It is absolutely impossible to be able to look at a coming revolution.

The issue no issue about those who want the iPhone, but hearing about a small company that is on the verge of reshaping the cell phone industry is laughable. The technology that is in the iPhone is present in different forms, and has been introduced by other companies. The implementation of the interface may be new.

What is really funny is that there has been more news about the iPhone than Paris Hilton.

I agree about the "apple bashing FANBOYS" part....some people need to GET A LIFE!

I don't see anything wrong with wanting to own an iphone, if you have the money.

So what if there are alternatives? There always were! When has that become news?

Some people will do anything to put apple down, but they are the losers!

So why does everyone have to wait until the oddball hour of 6 p.m. to get their precious phone? Steve Jobs says democracy demands that it be so.

Why is it brainwashed to buy an iPhone. Ya, there are requirements in activation, but what's the use of a phone if you don't activate it? People buy it because they want it, and like Apple.

Maybe the only people who are brainwashed Apple-bashing fanboys.

Sure, you're right about not having to buy one if you don't like the terms. It is just sad to see so many people brainwashed into buying something as restrictive and intrusive as it is, just because it looks good, is well built and easy to use.

And be sure there will be alternatives, soon enough, like Neo1973 that you can read about at http://www.openmoko.org which will respect your privacy, allow you to load a whole Free OS (GNU/Linux) on it and add or remove programs as you wish, but I imagine it wont be the only one with capabilities similar to iPhone's yet with much more freedom for the user.

As always, Apple remains an overhyped golden cage for its users. Pity so many people apparently like being in a golden cage.

"It's a cellphone, and that's all." mini pc would be a better discription. which i feel the iphone is. (i want it to run the full operating system though) not this toned down version.

perhaps its brain washing or perhaps apple are releasing a product that people want.

the high market share(sales rate) for these mini pc's is that people know it will be of good build quality(unlike my nokia and samsung phones).
will just work(one of apples main benefits) and will be easy to use.

if you don't like the terms and conditions you don't have to buy one.
