‘New’ p2pnet update
p2pnet news | Announcements:- Hi all:
By way of an update, p2pnet Mk IV Went officially online on July 1 and it seems to be ticking along smoothly now, a few blips (mostly mistakes on my part
) notwithstanding.
There are couple of items:
First, several formerly registered readers have emailed me complaining about the fact their old registrations don’t work any more.
As I said in the introductory post, unfortunately, there was no way old entries could be imported into the new database.
I’m really sorry about that – there were quite a few thousand – but it doesn’t take a minute to register and the same rules apply as before, which is to say, “anonymity will continue to be guaranteed and this new p2pnet does not, and will not, keep logs of comment posts. Full stop. Period. End of story.”
Second, I also had a couple of emails about comment spam or, rather, the lack of it and wondering if and when the verification system will be re-instated.
No worries. There’ll be no more of that, I sincerely hope. Akismet is one of the really useful WordPress plug-ins and so far it’s doing excellent job stopping incoming garbage.
It’s really nice not to have to manually delete it any more
Cheers!
Jon

Tired of being treated like a criminal? They depend on you, not the other way around. Don’t buy their ‘product’. Do bug your local politicians. Use emails, snail-mail, phone calls, faxes, IM, stop them in the street, blog. And if you’re into organizing, organize petitions, organize demonstrations and then turn up on your local political rep’s doorstep, making sure you’ve contacted your local tv/radio station/newspaper in advance. Don’t just complain. Do something!

Congrats on a sleak new interface!
It’s nice to hear that you probably will not have to worry about futre comment spam, I too have had trouble with massive commnet spam to the point that I had to filter out all english based content from the posts and trackbacks.
Best of luck Jon!

Nice going Jon.
BTW, in a way this is a test. If “You did it!” appears as a title, it means that “name” is the title of the post and not the name of the person writing the post, perhaps something that can be made more clear.
Keep it up.

I’ll not re-register. While I was registered with the last version running, I rarely ever used it. Not enough to do it again.
Hearing the spam is go is welcome news. I hated the catchpa (or however it is spelled) with a passion. For some reason it did not display well, leaving me to guess is that an 0, O, 1, I, or whatever. Many is the time I gave up attempting to post a comment after 8 to 10 tries sometimes to get past the thing. So I guess there will be no more entries titled ^^Spam^^ nor anymore x attempts at verification.
Good news indeed.

It’s GREAT that comment spam has had a kabash put to it. However, getting rid of the Comment “Tree”, I feel is a mistake. It was nice being able to directly address other commenters in conversation type style. Maybe you can do something about this?

Being able to edit posts would be a welcome addition, too.

All is nice and shiny, but I really DO miss the color difference between taken and not taken links. Kinda hard to remember wich story I’ve read last time.
