Man faces jail for posting ‘24′ shows
p2pnet news | tv:- What’s interesting about the case in which a Chicago man has admitted posting episodes of Fox’s 24 before they premiered on TV is the fact no mention is made of how the shows turned up on the Net in the first place.
Does this speak volumes?
The entertainment cartels are complaining bitterly about the way in which ‘product’ is showing up on the P2P networks, studiously avoiding mentioning that a significant number (the majority?) of these online appearances are down to corporate insiders.
“Jorge Romero, 25, entered his plea in federal court on Monday to one count of uploading copyrighted work being prepared for commercial distribution, the U.S. Attorney’s office said in a statement,” says Associated Press.
He faces up to three years in prison and is slated to be sentenced September 10m says the story, adding:
Prosecutors said Romero obtained the first four episodes of the 2007 season of “24″ over the Internet by using the file sharing program BitTorrent, then uploaded them onto the Web site LiveDigital.com for wider distribution.
The first two episodes appeared online Jan. 6, the second two episodes uploaded a day later, authorities said. The release came more than a week before Fox aired the episodes on Jan. 14 and 15, followed by a DVD release of the four-episode season premier.
