Sun flares zap cellphones
p2pnet news | mobiles:- You’re in the middle of an important cell phone call when suddenly POW !!! you’re cut off !

Battery failure? Bad reception area?
Maybe. But, say, say Canadian researchers, it might also be the Sun.
A study by scientists at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, has found solar flares may be to blame for cellphones losing their signals, says CTV.
According to their work, “The flares, radio-frequency energy bursts emitting from the sun, have a negative impact on cellphones when their host tower’s antennae is facing the sun,” says the story.
Led by professor David Thomson, the team found the rate of dropped calls could be as high as nine per cent in the summer, says the CBC, adding:
“That number was calculated during one morning rush-hour in the U.S. Midwest.
“He said the numbers would be similar in Canada.”
