The Pirate Bay kiddie porn victory
p2pnet news | p2p:- “Hej! Jag har sökt dig pÃ¥ din mobil utan framgÃ¥ng. Listan som distribueras till operatörerna senare i veckan innehÃ¥ller inte Pirate Bay. Presstjänsten vid RPS kommer att distribuera ett pressmeddelande i saken. Med vänliga hälsningar Stefan Kronqvist.”

Hollywood biggies Time Warner, Viacom, Fox, Sony, NBC Universal and Disney have for years been unsuccessfully trying to close down The Pirate Bay.
Now TPB is thinking about suing as yet unidentified Swedish police officers for “slander or official misconduct”.
Summarised in English, the quote in the intro reads, “The child porn filter list distributed this week will NOT contain the pirate bay”. It was posted by brokep on the TPB blog in response to the studios’ bid to use kiddie porn as a weapon against the Swedish privateers.
Says the post:
They claim that their work has been successful when trying to rid the Internet of child porn. I want to point out that still to this day, the police has not given us one single hint on what content on the site has been containing child porn – and the things we have filtered out has been proven not to be child porn either.
So wtf? What is this content their talking about?
We are currently thinking about filing charges against the responsible police officer for slander or official misconduct, and we will continue to investigate the actions they have taken.
More information will follow as soon as we have any.
Says djmixah in an email:
With the Swedish police’s attempt to block the Piratebay.org site has raised much support for the site itself, while many would say this is a desperate move by the Swedish police as they previously attempted removing the site itself by confiscating servers. The question of whether actual child porn material exists on the site still lingers on a few boards. But while it’s understandable why p2p users would take the side of the site right away, but its invalid to state that the Swedish authority’s accusation is wrong. A quick search on the site reveals that actual child porn material does exist, by judging by the comments left by the downloaders.

It is also learned from previous interviews that the PirateBay has no issue with disgusting material such as child porn being placed on the site, stating it is the responsibility of the owner.
“LinZorzor3r asks: If I have understood everything correctly you never take off anything that has been distributed on the Pirate Bay, instead you point to the responsibility of the users and the decisions of authorities. Is there any line beyond which you could not accept yourselves? How would it feel, for example, to indirectly add to the spread of child pornography, even if you had the chance to stop it?
Gottfrid: If someone was stupid enough to spread child porn through the Pirate Bay that would actually be a good thing. Then everyone could check who is spreading it.
Peter: We do not censor anything. Again, it is the responsibility of the user.”
While certainly the true motivation of the Swedish police to bock the PirateBay site may never be known and perhaps they truly wanted to block it due to the pressure from the cartels, the actual accusation that child porn does exist. Without the content being removed, the PirateBay may be in a losing battle. The removal of fake, virus ridden and any other wrongful material is always necessary for site administrators to do in order to provide a good experience for p2p users.
Stay tuned.
