I think p2pnet should check their sources first, and publish their opinion, second.
Regarding a pre-Independence Day incident (July, the 2nd, to be exact).
The so-called “unpaid cops” are from the Trademark Counterfeit Unit.
I do not think they work for free.

The “youngster” arrested is a 48 year old male. Isn’t he a bit too old for being a kid??
He had a camcorder, a video player and a remote.
I don’t know wether or not this guy is a hardcore criminal. But at least I do not make assumptions, as p2pnet does all the time.

Guys, get your facts straigh. will ya?
Or you are going to lose the credibility which is questionable, anyway.

The difference between stealing stereos and camcording a movie is that a physical object is being removed from the owner whereas in the latter nothing is removed.

I’ve downloaded many movies from various p2p networks very soon after or even before they launched. The vast proportion have been far too good a quality to be anything other than an inside job.

I mean, come on. It should be illegal to video tape a motion picture. I support filesharing overall. But if Honda was calling cops saying that people were stealing stereos out of the cars on their lot…. would we call them Honda Cops? or in some way negate the importance of protecting Honda’s property? It will be on dvd in a few months, watch it then.

Let’s get real here for a moment. Granted a woman with a cell phone probably isn’t trying to destroy the mpaa, but we don’t know everything about what happened. The MPAA doesn’t help themselves by releasing uninformative information about what really is happening, but what do you expect from them?
