P2P phone eliminates monthly fees
p2pnet news | product news:- Buy a $400 phone and get unlimited free US domestic calls to VoIP, landline or mobile phones, a second line and an answering machine: without having to pay anything else.

No monthly charges.
That’s the promise made by ooma, a new company which says it’s using P2P technology to, “be doing more than just putting voice over broadband”.
The system includes the, “ooma Hub connected to your broadband connection and your primary phone, and an ooma Scout for each additional active phone extension you use in your house,” it states.
Each comes with an “instant Second Line” with no installation or new phones; a broadband answering machine; and, ooma Lounge giving users, “the ability to manage their voice mail and call settings online”.
“The system works by building technology into the hub that allows you to switch calls for free,” says the San Francisco Chronicle. “It then uses the Internet and peer-to-peer technology to route calls without having to pay fees normally associated with switching calls.
“If you choose to keep your traditional phone line, you get regular 911 service. But more importantly, if you keep your phone line on and plug it into the hub, it helps Ooma complete calls in your area using the peer-to-peer system. Ooma said it has enough hubs in place to connect every call, but having people connected to their hubs through both broadband and a landline helps facilitate those calls more easily.”
