‘Jail AllofMP3.com’s Kvasov!’

p2pnet news view | politics:- A Moscow prosecutor wants to jail Denis Kvasov, the former owner of Russian music download site AllofMP3.com who’s on trial for alleged copyright infringement.

He should also be ordered to pay 15 million rubles (about $580,878) to EMI, Warner and Universal, says Deutsche Presseagentur, quoted by Heise Online.

AllofMP3.com was forced offline by the entertainment cartels with the backing of the US government.

A, “clone of the site by the name of MP3sparks.com still bravely held out for a time the pressure exerted by governments in the end proved overwhelming,” says the story, pointing out the affair had at one point, “even threatened to jeopardize Russia’s application to join the WTO”.

During a Q&A with AllofMP3.com, “You’ve been singled out for special attention by the US administration,” said p2pnet.

Our post included a comment from US Trade Representative Susan Schwab who declared, “I have a hard time imagining Russia becoming a member of the WTO and having a Web site like that [AllofMP3.com] up and running that is so clearly a violation of everyone’s intellectual property rights.”

It’s, “disappointing that United States Trade Representative Susan Schwab completely and deliberately mischaracterized AllofMP3.com,” said a site representative, going on:

Furthermore, it is irresponsible to use AllofMP3.com as a negotiating instrument in an attempt to extract concessions from Russia in return for US support for accession to the World Trade Organization.

AllofMP3.com is a Russian business that is in complete compliance with Russian law.

Meanwhile, Russia’s Alltunes.com is still online and offering the llofMP3 catalog, observes Heise Online, adding:

“Alltunes.com was even a short time ago able to celebrate a victory in court. The Russian partner of the credit card company Visa was ordered by a court in Moscow to continue to process payments for the download service. An across-the-board ban, such as the one imposed by Visa, was illegal, the court ruled. A ban could only be legally imposed after a copyright holder or copyright holders had filed for damages in court, the court added.”

  1. Reader's Write Says:

This 4 majors musik(???) parasites can continue to do whatever they want, we stoped doing business with them and the boycott is increrasing. In the US alone where they are trying to extort 20k people the drop in music sale is the worst (20%). Go ahead shitman! bother 30k people and may the sale will drop by 30% next time.
By by by RIAA! have a rotten time in hell!

The misic cartle is dying and should be soon only a bad memory.

Now we should do the movie cartel too: Boycott the movie-theaters and the DVD!
