Law lords to hear McKinnon
p2pnet news | politics:- Gary McKinnon, the British hacker accused of breaking into Pentagon and NASA computers, is to have his case against extradition to the US heard by the House of Lords.
The law lords’ agreement to hear arguments that US authorities, ” acted in an ‘oppressive’ and ‘arbitrary’ manner is the first step in what Mr McKinnon and his legal team hope will be an end to extradition proceedings which began in 2004,” says The Guardian.
He’s always argued because the alleged offences took place in the UK, that’s where he should stand trial, says the story.
No date has been set for the hearing and McKinnon who, say supporters, is a scapegoat for US shortcomings, remains on bail.
“This whole farce is nothing but shooting the messenger,” said p2pnet reader Tony in Australia, recently.
“Who wants to bet that 90% of those unsecured systems he stumbled into are still unsecured right now?” – he added.
No takers.
