Apple ‘duped iPhone buyers’
p2pnet news | mobiles:- “You know how a fully loaded iPhone will cost you more than $1,000?” – p2pnet posted last month, going on:

That just went up by close to another hundred dollars.
Among its many restrictions, Apple’s iPhone doesn’t allow you to change the battery.
But now Steve & Co have virtually admitted they made a really dumb mistake. They say they’ll ‘repair’ battery challenged units, and they actually use the word repair.
As with everything Apple, however, there’s a significant price tag. “Apple will repair your iPhone for a service fee of $79, plus $6.95 shipping.”
A lawyer who filed a class-action lawsuit against Apple and AT&T says the companies, “duped iPhone buyers by failing to disclose how expensive it would be to replace the battery,” says InformationWeek, going on:
“Larry Drury filed the suit last week in Circuit Court in Chicago, joining others in accusing Apple of failing to make clear to iPhone buyers how much it would cost to replace the battery. On Monday, the Consumer Protection Board in New York called on Apple to make replacing the battery easier and less expensive.”
Drury told InformationWeek Apple and AT&T sold the iPhone without fully disclosing the cost during its lifetime, says the story, adding:
“The Consumer Protection Board echoed those allegations, saying in a letter to Apple Chief Executive Steve Jobs that Apple should ‘review its practices in disclosing contract terms and conditions, warranties and return policies’.”
Consumer Protection Board chairwoman and executive director Mindy Bockstein also told Jobs Apple should, “provide free rental phones as customers wait for repairs to the iPhone,” says Newsday.
“Consumers should not have to rent an iPhone for $29 because their expensive iPhone failed to perform as expected a
nd needs repair,” she wrote.

Nice way to promote customer loyalty– charge an arm and a leg for a product and if that isn’t enough, take the other arm and leg too. Sure makes me want to run out and buy Apple ASAP so I too can partake in the fleecing of the sheep.

You know they needed to put labels on microwaves and washer/dryers warning people not to put their cat in there? They had to because some idiots sued companies producing such goods because “they were not notified of the harm it would cause”..
History is full of cases like that, I mean case where lawyers were looking for quick cash..
+ Who in their right mind buys products like the iPhone without looking a specs and details like that?

More evidence that the iPhone is an overpriced, poorly built piece of crap. Unless you’re retarded, you can find a much better, cheaper phone. But no, Apple relies on their idiotic fanbase that buys everything that they crap out just because it’s made by Apple.
