LOL. are you comparing me to Michael Vick? I don't even really like dogs but that seems kind of weird. And btw did you actually read that Wired story? it was very favorable. Leaving was the best thing I ever did. But I assure you I didn't leave because I felt hated.

Why Drive down to the store and wait in line to purchase an entire album when you can download the songs you want faster than it takes to find your car keys? The CD is going the way of 8-trax. We need more pay-to-download options, not more legal action.

What you mention in this article all comes back to me afresh while I read events that I remember. With each event as it came out, I wondered how the industry could sink to lower depths than the time before. Each event gave me a new defination of how low, low was. Each even brings back to me the disgust I felt at the time it happened for the cartels and their favored pet lap dogs.

I was never on Napster. I do remember all the crap the labels pulled shutting it down. I also remember the Lars incident and the responce it brought to the internet.

Audiogalaxy suffered much the same fate in that it was sued down to a shadow of it's former self. I discovered two things when that happened.

One was that I believe the cartels had their hired dogs ready for it. Doing a search for mp3, free music, or any such terms brought up all sorts of sites for your enjoyment. The majority were laced with trojans and malware. While I certainly can't prove it to be so, I attribute it more to the industry doing that than any other group or individual. There is a long link between them and third party companies spreading malware.

The other was I found that all of a sudden there were tons of new sites for file sharing. The closing of those two on line sites it seemed sparked people to set up their own sharing sites. Whack-a-mole began in earnest. Not only were there tons of new sites but word spread with each of these lawsuits and the closing down of those sites, effectively telling people they were missing out. The responding herd coming to the internet was enormous.

There was one time I used to buy 2 and 3 ablums a week, each and every week. I loved my music. Then came the day I woke up to the idea I was rebuying everything I liked over and over without seeing new stuff I might like just to keep old freinds as the formats changed. I finally figured out that keeping a library of what I liked on hand was futile. There was no sense in buying this stuff that wasn't going to last long enough for me to get my money's worth out of them. This is the point where the last straw was reached.

Since then, every move the cartels have made have turned me more and more against them. When sue'em came out, that was the last day for buying music. I now don't care if I ever buy another song in my life. The industry can keep their music, I will keep my money as I both despise their methods and their products. When Hollydud joined in the sue'em all they also joined my list of things I won't buy. At that point I had swapped from music to movies in buying. So the movie industry also loses out the same way.

Through it all, the reinforcement that prevented me from wavering has been the newest act that redefines my defination of low life behavor of the despicably moraless industries grouped together into media.

So you can chalk me up to being one of those that were affected just by the continual bad PR surrounding those cartels. I want nothing to do with their product and even less today with the companies they represent. If it were in my power today, I would lock them all up in a wooden barn, bar the door, and burn it to the ground but that's not possible. So I will settle for the next best thing which is never to purchase another product of theirs for life.

History will look back at the 'Major Labels' and laugh at their myopia and future shock.

Roll on history. At the moment, this stuff just isn't funny.
