CLOSE THE NET! says Reginald
p2pnet news | music:- “The internet has stopped people from going out and being with each other, creating stuff. Instead they sit at home and make their own records …”

Make their own records!?!? Oh! The Horror!
That’s Reginald Kenneth Dwight (right), quoted in Britain’s The Sun.
Why should anyone care what Dwight thinks? He’s better known as Elton John and sometimes the DYI thing is OK, he goes on, “but it doesn’t bode well for long-term artistic vision”.
What it doesn’t bode well for corporate music industry profits. Where would we be if musicians start doing their own thing instead of signing up with the likes of Warner Music, EMI, Vivendi Universal and Sony BMG?
Oh! The Horror!
Doesn’t bear thinking about.
“We’re talking about things that are going to change the world and change the way people listen to music and that’s not going to happen with people blogging on the internet,” he John, according to the story.
He goes on:
“Let’s get out in the streets and march and protest instead of sitting at home and blogging.
I do think it would be an incredible experiment to shut down the whole internet for five years and see what sort of art is produced over that span.
There’s too much technology available.
I’m sure, as far as music goes, it would be much more interesting than it is today.
Meanwhile, “Sales of Elton’s last album The Captain & The Kid were disappointing,” says The Sun, “it barely shifted 100,000 copies …”
Oh.

Fucking luddite poof. People like him should be shot for being so queer and so camp. They contribute nothing and just corrupt what is normal and decent – and that’s STRAIGHT. Gay is just not right.
Look at the weird views he has. He actually admitted to being a luddite, which incredibly, was not quoted here.
Just die Elton, die.

We would go back to old foggy Elton John and Britney slut craps that plagged the desert of rubishness of the 20th century, courtesy of the old music industry.
Welcome to the artistic big-bang that is due to occur in the 21 century thanks to internet!
Bye Bye RIAA!

As misguided and self serving as Elton’s comments may be, I think at a basic level he makes a good point.
âThe internet has stopped people from going out and being with each other”.
Hugs are just not quite the same over the net.
BTW, the ugly bigot thing is just not right.

Reg’s sexual inclinations have nothing to do with it. So leave it out.
Cheers!

We all know that the Internet can be used for transmitting porn, hate, etc. It also is abused by many. However, it represents something that has not happened since th 1700’s. It represents the free flow of information and gives anyone with an Internet connection a forum. It is allowing people to report all of the news.
One thing that has been extremely under reported in the news, and that thing is a new revolt against taxation without representation. A tax siege has befallen a couple in New Hamshire. Ed and Elaine brown has been under siege for several months in a dispute over taxes. The governments have so far largely kept the story from being widely aired in the mainstream news. The website http://www.makethestand.com has the couples’s side of the story.
Another story on this same subject is Tom Cryer’s acquittal of income tax fraud and failure to file a return. The only thing he asked the IRS to do is show him the law. Apparently the IRS could not, and so he was acquitted. You can read about that story at http://www.newsbusters.org/node/14077 . With the Internet, people can do the research and decide for themselves. Regardless of who is right, these stories have been buried in the mass media. I choose to use the Internet to research information and stories that the corporations, governments, and other special interest do not want me to hear. So do many others. Let’s keep the Internet free and growing.
