Apple patent violation claim
p2pnet news | mobiles:- Apple is having more iPhone troubles.
SP Technologies claims the iPhone touch screen violates a patent granted in 2004 for “Method and medium for computer readable keyboard display incapable of user termination,” says IT Week.
“The patent covers the use of ’soft keyboards’, where a keyboard can be activated on screen without any hardware.”
But as the story observes, “The timing and target of the suit” is “slightly odd” given that other devices use such a system.
Apple has been strongly criticised for compelling users to open iTunes accounts before they can captivate their phones. I
n addition, they’re also forced to sign on with AT&T for two years.

As much as I like to see the iPhone suffer, this claim is complete BS. Really says something about how screwed up IP laws are, and just how far someone can misinterpret them.

The problem is: I have seen some touch screen virtual KB as early as 1987. 20 year ago.
