Sony in trouble over Kovac ad
p2pnet news | Advertising:- Kovac holds a knife and a gun and, reads the blurb, “You on my side? Listen up I’ve killed for less, the music plays Puccini in my head.”

A little something from a Take-Two Interactive Manhunt2 ad, maybe?
No. It’s a PlayStation 3 Net advertisement and it’s been banned by Britain’s Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) because, says the agency, it, “sent out an inappropriate message to young people,” says GamesIndustry.biz.
The item features a guy with a (presumably) Eastern European accent lying in a bath, philosophising about life, until the end, he whips up gun and, laughing hysterically, says we’ll have to excuse him while he goes out and buys himself a bar of chocolate.
Yes.
It ran on BT and Yahoo websites as part of a series of cross-media ads which attracted 23 complaints, says Next Generation. With it came, “Kovac, mercenary or misunderstood?” and the slogan “This is living.”
“While accepting that the ad (pictured) was aimed at adults, the ASA upheld the complaints against it, forcing the advert to be withdrawn and issuing Sony with a warning regarding its future conduct,” says the story.
TBWA, the advertising agency which came up with the ad, said it was aimed at adults and wasn’t intended to “represent, nor
describe, socially acceptable or aspirational behaviour,” says GamesIndustry.biz.
It’s also posted on YouTube.
