Even though it's a large company, it respects FOSS, and even supports it. I think the public has a lot of good will for google, they are forward thinking an innovative. Now all we need to do now is abolish patents and copyright laws, then we will be truly free to create without legal FUD from companies like microcrap (oops microsoft).
